Wade Houle

Wade Houle is an award-winning Indigenous educator who works in Treaty 2 in Manitoba, Canada. Based out of Dauphin, Manitoba, Wade identifies as both Anishinaabe and Metis with roots in Ebb & Flow First Nation, Lake Manitoba First Nation, and the Metis village of Vogar, Manitoba.

In 2016, Wade was the recipient of a national education award from Indspire, and in 2021 was awarded the RAVEN Trust’s Harmony Foundation Essay Prize for his piece entitled “Wasii’aa Gizhigo Inini”.

Wade completed his Master’s Degree from the Faculty of Graduate Studies at Brandon University in May of 2022.

An advocate for Indigenous education, history, and perspectives, Wade has sat on multiple committees such as the Manitoba Teacher’s Society’s Indigenous Voice and Action Standing Committee and the Teacher Led Learning Team. He has chaired the Government of Manitoba’s Indigenous Inclusion Directorate’s Advisory Committee and participated in the Indigenous Studies Course Development Team. He currently sits on the Mountain View School Division’s Indigenous Education Committee and Anti-Racism Committee.
